As parents, we are self taught through our own trial and error.

Oftentimes, we role model behaviors that were ingrained in us at a young age, even old patterns that may no longer be serving our families today.

Parenting and co-parenting are some of the most difficult and most important roles we have in our lives.  Our role, as your parenting coach, is to support your family exactly where you are, no matter how broken that system may feel to you.

Why Work With A Parent Coach?

At Solutions Parenting Support, we are your allies. Our role, as parent coaches, is to support your family system exactly where you are, no matter how broken that system may feel to you. Even amidst the biggest parenting problems, we encourage, challenge and inspire you. We do this by helping you increase your self- awareness, enhance your communication skills, manage your emotions, co-parent with grace and develop meaningful habits, all of which can positively affect your entire family system.

Who Can We Help?

We work with parents who are faced with situations that are proving more difficult to manage than anticipated. Perhaps you already have serious concerns with your child’s behavior, or you’re frustrated with not being aligned within your co-parenting relationship. You probably already know that something needs to change in your family. Despite the fact that the old way isn’t working, you’re not sure of what other options you have.

Our families come to us with a variety of different parenting obstacles. Whether you’re just starting to research alternative options such as long-term out-of-home treatment or wilderness therapy, you’re transitioning a child between different levels of treatment or you’re just wanting to take a proactive approach to parenting before a situation escalates (and necessitates long-term help), we can support you in shifting to a healthier family dynamic.

Helped us to set a new, sustainable path...

Hilary is great at identifying our family’s struggles, quickly guiding self-assessment, and helping us to set a new, sustainable path. I highly recommended Hilary to parents with kids in Wilderness Therapy and those who want to avoid that drastic step.

The parents who benefit the most from working with us seek education, a heftier tool kit and are ready to take the necessary action steps to feel empowered in their lives, again.

What’s Our Paradigm?

Our work will hone in on your personal strengths, while also developing awareness of your personal struggles. We are direct and practical, while also enveloping you with empathy, understanding and support.

While there is no perfect formula to change a child’s behavior, as parents, you can engage in a level of personal growth that can shift old family behavior patterns while also providing the necessary framework for the adult you hope your child can become. When Solutions Parenting Support parents work together with self-awareness and grace, it trickles down causing a positive ripple effect within the family system.

Defining Success

We don’t define success as “never falling” but rather as the ability to fall and get back up, ideally sooner and with more skill, each time. This is true both for you as the parent, whom we support, as well as for your child, whom you support. We work with you to understand and practice this paradigm, as well as help you discern what are age-appropriate struggles versus clinically significant struggles. Both are key aspects of our coaching approach.

The “Fix My Kid” Myth

Rather than focusing on tools for changing your child’s behavior, we help you put your energy toward the only behaviors over which you have complete control, your own. By focusing on what you can control, rather than on what you can’t control, we put you on the path to significant systemic change. Our parents are often surprised that in changing their response to a challenging situation, their child’s reactions frequently change, as well.
