Hanna Young, MSW

Transitional Specialist/Parent Coach

Since 2002, I have supported families in their healing process in settings that include wilderness therapy programs, therapeutic boarding schools, hospitals and on an outpatient basis.

Though I have a varied skill set, I often work with parents of young adolescent boys with learning disabilities and who, at times, are managing a spectrum disorder. I value directness and humor as a part of the process.

The power of wilderness was amazing but I recognized that often kids and families still have more work to do before home can be a successful option. I then spent 6 years as a therapist and clinical supervisor in a therapeutic boarding school for middle school students and 2 more years as a therapist and clinical director at a therapeutic boarding school for high school students who were preparing to transition home or on to independent living. My work in wilderness and therapeutic boarding schools showed me over and over again that no matter how much healing happens when a child is away and in treatment, the real test of their work begins when they come home. Successful parenting is critical to the success of that child and their family and I love helping to bridge the world of inpatient treatment back to the world of home so that families can thrive and continue to move forward.

About Solutions Parenting Support

Over the years, we have gained much insight into how difficult it is for children and parents to sustain what they learned in treatment once they returned home.

In traditional treatment programs, it is the child’s responsibility for continuing their growth in the home setting, but, up until now, there has been very little focus or resources dedicated to helping the parents maintain, with confidence, their responsibility in this journey alongside their child.

We all felt called to find ways to better support parents and created Solutions Parenting Support to give parents the confidence and tools to navigate the tough terrain of raising struggling adolescents, teens and young adults.

We maintain humility and openness about our own learning processes. We are all teachers and learners with our eyes and hearts open to the idea that our clients are both our students and our teachers.

Let’s work together!

Whether you’re just starting to feel concerned about your child’s behavior or you are already on the path to healing through a treatment program, (and your child is transitioning home), Solutions Parenting Support has several options to help you, including custom group workshops, online parenting courses to individual long and short-term coaching sessions.
