Jen Murphy, M.Ed.

Co-Owner/Transitional Specialist/Parent Coach

jen-murphy-bio-hoverI have worked in a wide variety of clinical settings within the therapeutic industry from the wilderness milieu to outpatient services and transitional support. I have extensive experience working with a multitude of populations specifically adolescents, young adults, their parents and families. I have become an expert in the field of providing effective parent coaching to parents as they transition their children from out of home and long-term treatment programs.

In addition to developing and implementing two nationally recognized transitional programs, I have been recognized in my success at being able to assist and educate others, specifically within family systems and the parent coaching field. As my career has evolved over the last 25 years, I constantly seek and find more opportunities to teach as well as to learn from the parents I am in connection with.

When I am in my parent coaching role, I am known for my insightful, practical and direct approach while bringing an enormous amount of compassion and support to the parents I work with.

I am an adjunct faculty member in the Social Sciences Department at Colorado Mountain College. This provides me an additional area of richness in my life each year I teach. I am an avid mountain biker, skier and traveler. In my personal world, I am constantly trying to learn more about myself and how to pivot on a daily basis with more grace. And I always enjoy forced family fun time, with my husband and two sons as we navigate the teenage years.

About Solutions Parenting Support

Over the years, Hilary Moses and I gained much insight into how difficult it is for children and parents to sustain what they learned in treatment once they returned home.

The primary focus, through traditional treatment programs, was always primarily the child’s responsibility for continuing their growth in the home setting, but there was very little focus and resources dedicated to help the parents maintain, with confidence, their responsibility in this journey alongside their child.

We all felt called to find ways to better support parents and created Solutions Parenting Support to give parents the confidence and tools to navigate the tough terrain of raising struggling adolescents, teens and young adults.

We maintain humility and openness about our own learning processes. We are all teachers and learners with our eyes and hearts open to the idea that our clients are both our students and our teachers.

Let’s work together!

Whether you’re just starting to feel concerned about your child’s behavior or you are already on the path to healing through a treatment program, (and your child is transitioning home), Solutions Parenting Support has several options to help you, including custom group workshops, online parenting courses to individual long and short-term coaching sessions.
