Families are a sum of their parts- in the very best ways, also in the hardest ways imaginable. While each individual acts according to their own will; there are ripples that create, challenge and change the family system. The ripples can feel overwhelming and detrimental.

My greatest joy and strength, professionally, has been working directly with parents. I have worked with clients in both wilderness and RTC settings for 20 years. Shifting my focus 11 years ago to parents with a family member struggling before, during, or after a transition has become my passion.

My approach with parents starts from a place of deep empathy about how difficult this transition can be for parents and kids. From there, I am honest, direct, and directive with parents throughout the struggles that inevitably arise as a child transitions home or to a therapeutic placement.

I have a BA from Colorado State University, and a Masters in Counseling from The University of Phoenix. When I am not working, I spend time in my vegetable garden, mountain biking/snowboarding with my husband, learning how to apply my knowledge to raising my 2 young daughters (4 & 7)… and not forgetting our dog.

About Solutions Parenting Support

Over the years, Hilary Moses, Jen Murphy and I gained much insight into how difficult it is for children and parents to sustain what they learned in treatment once they returned home.

The primary focus, through traditional treatment programs, was always primarily the child’s responsibility for continuing their growth in the home setting, but there was very little focus and resources dedicated to help the parents maintain, with confidence, their responsibility in this journey alongside their child.

We all felt called to find ways to better support parents and created Solutions Parenting Support to give parents the confidence and tools to navigate the tough terrain of raising struggling adolescents, teens and young adults.

We maintain humility and openness about our own learning processes. We are both teachers and learners with our eyes and hearts open to the idea that our clients are both our students and our teachers.

Let’s work together!

Whether you’re just starting to feel concerned about your child’s behavior or you are already on the path to healing through a treatment program, (and your child is transitioning home), Solutions Parenting Support has several options to help you, including custom group workshops, online parenting courses to individual long and short-term coaching sessions.
