Young Person Coaching

Our Young Person Coaching Services are designed for 11- to 28-year-olds who are interested in shaping their lives through identifying their strengths, their needs and their vision for who they want to be and how they want to show up through life’s challenges. You, the mentee, might be struggling to face life with confidence at home or you might be returning home from wilderness therapy or from a longer term therapeutic experience. Your parents might be encouraging you to get support to develop new awareness or to stay engaged in some level of support so you can sustain and put into action the awareness and skills you have developed through treatment. Regardless of what is compelling you to look into mentor support, our services are for you if you have the courage and willingness to proactively shape your life in new ways.

* Each case is evaluated on an individual basis to ensure that the mentee is a good fit for our services. Please book a consultation to discuss your unique circumstances.

Coaches provide mentorship, and mentoring is not about what we will do for you, but about who we are for you and how we support you towards your goals.

  1. We can help you develop agency at home and increase your critical thinking skills while taking into account healthy balanced living, your strengths and limitations and your family’s values.
  2. We can help you identify the tools that are useful for you and teach you how to sustain all the work you have invested in up until now.
  3. We can support you in knowing when you truly need help, who to go to for that help, how to ask for it, with awareness of how you feel about it.
  4. We can help you find the courage within yourself to put into action aspects of the support you need to apply the skills and tools you have and to continue to encourage and support you having agency in your life.
  5. We can help you identify what their therapeutic journey and growth looks like while supporting the recommendations and expectations of others in their life.
  6. We can teach, model and work with you on how to provide transparency to your parents while still creating and having agency.
    • Agency is the sense of control that you feel in your life, your capacity to influence your own thoughts and behavior, and to have faith in your ability to handle a wide range of tasks and situations.
  7. We can help you learn to talk to your parents both informally and formally and will provide family coaching sessions to practice these skills with support.
  8. We can help navigate the reality of the container that you have lived in and that has supported you therapeutically and navigate the level of autonomy that you now have by;
    • Teaching you how to advocate for yourself, how to navigate the freedoms, help you get to the point that you are trusted by others, help you hear and understand your responsibilities and how to navigate those responsibilities in effective ways.
    • Support you to have healthy relationships even when those relationships are frustrating.
    • Help you know your value outside of a therapeutic setting and to increase your willingness to enact your value and know your impact.
  9. We can be an honest person in your life, a truth dispenser that supports your success and will fight like hell for you to get where you want to get.
  10. We can help you learn how to struggle and keep trying; learn how to respond when unsuccessful. Learn to change the meaning you place on things and help you identify how you will stand on your own while choosing to allow for the support of those around you.

Young Person Coaching FAQs

If you are interested in proactively shaping your life, facing challenges with authenticity and awareness, then we can help. Our focus is to address the present moment, what is working and not, what you would like to effect change over and how to do it. If you have intense emotions and unhealthy behaviors related to those emotions, such as substance abuse or self- harm, it is important to have a therapist and/or psychiatrist on your team as well.

Because it is harder than you think it is right now, to put all that you have learned into action consistently over time. You have put in too much time and energy to let it fall to the wayside. We can help you shape and keep your focus on what is important to you and help and your mentor can be a safe place to share the obstacles you are facing and how challenging it is to put new skills into action. We encourage proactive support that can help you stay on the path you want, rather than waiting until something goes wrong and managing it reactively.

It is said that a therapist helps you understand the past and how it is impacting your current experiences, while a coach or mentor helps you show up in present ways that can help you in your day to day life and relationships while giving guidance as you predict and prepare for future outcomes.
