Justin Larkin

Young Person Mentor

For over 15 years I have dedicated therapeutic work to adolescents and their families in a variety of settings including wilderness, residential, transitional living, and addiction treatment centers. I get fired up by the potential to witness young people and their families uncover their innate strengths, rediscover their connections and realize their own conviction that growth is possible.

I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling and bring wide ranging clinical experience with a solutions focused, trauma-informed, person-centered approach. I work well with young adults and adolescents who are screen addicted, nature deprived, oppositional, lacking motivation, anxious, depressed, manipulative or struggling with life transitions.

I get fired up by the potential to witness young people and their families uncover their innate strengths, rediscover their connections and realize their own conviction that growth is possible.

My style is direct, stable, authentic, and welcoming. My super power is fostering connection and rapport, allowing clients to feel comfort in discomfort. I believe that all people are passionate and creative, and capable of reconnecting to a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

In addition to coaching and therapeutic work, I am a father, husband, surfer, hiker, and naturalist guide. Living in Hawai’i, I spend my free time surfing with my five year old, playing in the sand with my one year old, and hiking in the rain forest with the whole family.

I enjoy studying Hawaiian culture, mo’olelo (story telling), bird-nerding, telling you (anyone who will listen) what makes native plant species special, and playing guitar.
